Why We Built Nordh: Minimal Skincare That Actually Works Long Term

Skincare today is loud. Long routines, crowded ingredient lists, and products designed to do everything at once, often at the expense of the skin barrier.

Nordh was created as a response to that.

Founded in Sweden in 2023 by Lisa and Lova, Nordh is built on a simple belief: healthy skin doesn’t require excess - it requires restraint.

The problem with most skincare routines

Like many people, we both struggled with acne-prone and problematic skin for years. Our routines grew longer, not better. Each new product promised improvement, yet often caused more irritation, imbalance, or dependency.

Lip care was no exception. Many products felt effective at first, but over time:

• Increased dryness

• Caused irritation or sensitivity

• Required constant reapplication

Instead of supporting the skin, they created reliance.

What we couldn’t find was something clean, minimal, and effective over time.

Why minimal skincare works better for compromised skin

Overusing skincare products is one of the fastest ways to weaken the skin barrier. Excess exfoliation, unnecessary fragrance, and layered actives often lead to:

• Chronic dryness

• Sensitivity

• Breakouts caused by irritation, not congestion

A minimal skincare routine removes what isn’t essential, giving the skin space to regulate and repair itself. Fewer products mean fewer variables - and fewer opportunities for irritation.

This approach became the foundation of Nordh.

Two years of formulation, by design

Nordh didn’t launch quickly.

After founding the brand in 2023, we spent two years focused on formulation and manufacturing in Sweden. The goal wasn’t to create multiple products, but to get one product right.

The result launched at the end of 2024: a two-ingredient lip treatment formulated with lanolin and safflower seed oil.

It was the only formulation that consistently worked for us long term, without drying out the lips or creating dependency.

Why fewer ingredients mattered

Every additional ingredient increases the risk of irritation - especially for acne-prone or sensitive skin.

By limiting the formula to two well-tolerated, functional ingredients, we removed anything that didn’t directly support the skin barrier. No fragrance. No fillers. No ingredients added for trend or texture.

This same logic applies to skincare routines as a whole: fewer, better choices outperform excess.

All Nordh products are made and manufactured in Sweden, where formulation culture emphasizes quality, precision, and long-term use over fast trends.

This isn’t about novelty or instant results. It’s about products designed to be used daily - consistently and comfortably.
